At the site of a major housing development, Spectrum Geo Services were consulted regarding the hydrogeology of the site, in particular in relation to site drainage design.
Two phases of work were undertaken. Phase 1 comprised BRE Digest percolation testing. Recommendations based upon Phase 1 showed there to be a requirement for further understanding of the geology and hydrogeology at the site. Thus, Phase 2, comprising rotary boreholes and Packer Testing was designed, to assess the permeability of the strata succession, through the superficial deposits, and Porthkerry Group Limestone, to allow design of an appropriate drainage strategy for the site. Standpipes were installed, allowing longterm groundwater monitoring, and ground gas analysis.
