A listed ancient monument, sitting upon an igneous volcanic plug, with conchoidal cooling joints, and significant variations in weathering grade and structure, a scheme was aesethically designed to ensure the long term stability of the rock face.
The outcrop had recently been stabilised by the use of rock dowelling.
Concern regarding the face stability, post dowelling, resulted in Spectrum Geo Services developing a specification which resulted in employing lime based mortar and grout, being placed in face discontinuities to ensure long term rock face integrity, whilst maintaining the aesthetics of the outcrop.
